Dreams of Racial equality realized with gaps

Americans are yet to realize Martin Luther King’s dreams of eliminating racial discrimination completely from the United States. There is still a huge gap between the previledged whites and deprived blacks in the nation that is celebrating a national memoir in the honor of King.

A recent poll by USA TODAY/Gallup almost 90 percent of whites in the United States believe that lives of blacks have improved and to this, 85 percent blacks also agree. However, they all accepted that there is still more to be done to achieve complete equality in civil rights for the colored people.

The availability of goods available in the markets also reflect the impact of racial and ethnic diversityBlacks in different regions of the zunited States feel that racism persists to the current era, however, election of Barack Obama, the first African-American president shows that the country has leaped forward gradually.

They feel that if Martin Luther would have seen this that a black man is heading world’s most powerful democracy, he would be the proudest person on this earth. Martin Luther King had led the civil rights movement and he was assassinated in 1968.

Three West Memphis to be released for plea deal

The three men who were convicted of killing three 8 year old scouts in Arkansas could be freed when the case comes up on Friday as the three have plea deal. This could end the two decades they have been in prison over the killing.

This position was disclosed by one of the victim’s relatives. He said that the three Damien Echolas, Jason Baldwin as well as Jessie Misskelley could regain their freedom if they use the chance that would be offered to them to change the pleas they entered in 1983 when they committed the crime in West Memphis.

It would be recalled that after the trial the jury returned a death verdict for Echolas while the other two Missekelley and Baldwin were sentenced for life for their different roles in the killings. During the investigations one of the accused Misskelley has confessed for the crime but during trial however his lawyer has to make a shift in position claiming the police that investigated the crime took advantage of his low IQ.

The case staggered up to supreme court where the court ordered that trial be done again because of the statement by the defense lawyers that new DNA tests had exonerated the three for the offense. The new trial could end to their regaining their freedom.

Rick Perry Could change things in New Hampshire

The outcome of the nomination in New Hampshire could change the political fortune for the Texas Governor Rick Perry who has joined the presidential race on Republican platform. For sometime the presidential aspirant has concentrated in the state to better his chances in the polls.

The state by history is not a favourite hotspot for evangelical Republicans, but the aspirant hopes on his political strategist Dave Carney who is an indigene of the place to win the state. If that happens it could change the political equation in the Republican nominations.

The presidential aspirant hit the streets in the state to earn the attention and support of the people of the state. So far the support for the aspirant is mainly from the south and evangelical voters. He needs the 233 votes in the state to retain the tempo which he generated when he entered the race.

Although the state is dominated by presidential front runner Mitt Romney, it is expected that if the governor is to make a good impression even by coming second at the polls it could change many things in the race as his chances would be further boosted.

Perry is determined to make an impact in the state as he is campaigning vigorously. He could create the kind of impact Bill Clinton created in 1992.

Obama’s healthcare in problem owing to Appeals court’s ruling

With a ruling against Obama’s dream project—Healthcare law, Democrats face another setback on Friday. The Appeals court ruling considered it “unconstitutional” to force Americans to buy insurance or pay a penalty otherwise. The appeal court for 11th Circuit, which is based in Atlanta, believes that the Congress is crossing its sphere of authority by imposing on Americans with something like buying coverage

The mandate may totally reverse the situation throwing out the entire law, however its legality is yet to be decided by the US Supreme Court. The opposition Republicans, however, think that the Healthcare law is totally invalid and must fall.

The healthcare law has been a burning issue for the 2012 presidential campaign and almost all Republicans have fiercely opposed the law. Despite this, the Congress has already adopted the in 2010.

Obama, always considered the law as a major accomplishment of the Democrat government and advocated for it to expand to maximum number of Americans. The Democrats are still hopeful that the healthcare law will survive through all oppositions as well as the lower court’s ruling against it, stated Presidential aide Stephanie Cutter in a statement.

The US Supreme Court is expected to look into the issue in October term, and that will be definitely have a great impact on immediately preceding presidential elections in Novemebr 2012.
