Al Qaeda releases posthumous message of Osama Bin Laden

Al Qaeda has released a recording which said was recorded by Osama Bin Laden just before he died. In that message Osama Bin Laden was pleased with the revolution which swept the political leadership in Tunisia and Egypt and spoke of the need for the Muslims to utilize every rare opportunity to rise to the top.

The video was shown in Islamic websites lasted for about 12 minutes. The content of the video has already being translated by Americans to truly digest its contents.

It would be recalled the US seal put an end to Osama Bin Laden on May 2 prompting a vacuum in the leadership of al Qaeda. However there is unconfirmed report that the terror group has named a former army colonel from Egypt to lead that group.

The former Egyptian army colonel Saif al-Adel was a close aid to Osama Bin Laden. He was said to be the security chief to Osama Bin Laden. He was also accused of being involved in the US embassy bombings in US in 1993 as well as having instructed those who carried out the 9-11 attack on US. He is said to be somewhere in Pakistan but was held in Iran from where he was released.

President Obama urges Middle East for peace talks

The president of the United States of America Barack Obama has stated that the time is ripe to solve the conflict between Israel and Palestine. He said that is the only road map to a sustainable peace in the Middle East.

The president spoke after a meeting with the Jordan king Abdullah in White House. The president is slated to meet with the Prime Minister of Israel Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday on the way forward in bringing lasting peace between the two countries. This was coming barely a day after the president talked to the American people over his policies in the Mid east as well as the uprising that that are related to pro democracy in some countries in that region.

Obama said that the two parties that are involved have to start serious negotiations on how to establish two independent states that would be living side by side of each other.

Tunisia Warns Libya following rocket attacks

Tunisian government official has warned that the country could report Libya to the United Nations Security Council if Libya is to throw rockets at their borders again. Tunisia said that Libya has been launching rockets at the border. Tunisia said that some of the rockets fired at the border were entering to its territory warning the diplomatic actions would be taken against Libya if such is to happen again.

The defection of the Libyan oil minister to the side of the rebels that have been battling to topple Col Gadhafi has put the Libyan leader under serious pressure. Few days ago it was reported that about four Russian made rockets were fired inside Tunisia and the security in Tunisia has no problem in determining the shots were fired from Libya. This attack against the Tunisian has made the Libyan forces to retreat a bit from the border after heavy battle with the rebels along that border.

Tunisia has announced that the veteran minister of oil has left Tripoli and is in the country Tunisia signaling that the minister has called it a quit with the government of Gadhafi who is locked in a battle with some rebel groups in the country who are fighting to force him out of power.

Libyan rebels move to form government

The crisis in libya is taken a new dimension with the rebels who for months have been waging a war to remove Moamar Gadhaffi from power have decided to form a government that is a parallel government in the country.

The leaders of the rebel group were locked in a two day meeting with the regional heads on the way forward to the formation of the national government. The theme of the meeting centered around the modalities for the formation of the parlaimentary seats and modes of the representation. The executive arm of the government was equally discussed.

The move was also part of the effort to see that the country has a direction in post Gadhaffi era. It was seen as a move to woo the attention of the international community to make them consider the release of Libyan money that has been sized by the international community since the crises started.

It is not yet clear whether the efforts to form a parallel government in the country would make the international community to release the Libyan assets that were frozen by the international community. The meeting between the rebels leader and the regional leaders was held in Benghazi. The rebels have been battling to topple Gadhaffi for months now.

ICC warrants not to stop NATO strikes in Libya

The coast is becoming clearer for the arrest of Libyan leader Col Moamar Gadhafi with his possibility of being his name being added to the wanted least of the International Criminal Court.

There is the likelihood that the court could yield to the demand that warrant of arrests could be issued for him and some of his family members. If that is done it can change the role of NATO in the crisis. NATO has so far restricted its operations to the targeting of military installations inside Tripoli. If the warrant is issued then NATO may decide to target Gadhafi personally.

ICC prosecutor is seeking for warrant of arrest against Gadhafi his son and the chief of security intelligence in that country for what they he described as crime against humanity against the people of Libya committed by the three men. Issuing the attack will arm NATO with the authority they have been looking for to commence infrastuructural targets in that country.

The warrant when issued would definitely not make great impact among the citizens of Tripoli but it will change the face of the war especially as regards to NATO attacks because Gadhafi could become the direct targets. The warrant of arrests would further isolate Gadhafi from the rest of the world.

Asia targets greater roles at IMF

Asian continent is preparing to have a greater role in the activities of the International Monetary Fund IMF. This was disclosed in Beijing China.

The ongoing crises in the world number one monetary institution seemed to have reawakened the consciousness of the Asian continent for greater involvement in the affairs of the fund. Recently the controversy surrounding the sexual harassment leveled against the immediate past head of the fund Mr. Strauss Kahn has consumed his career in the organization as he has thrown in the towel as the chief executive of the fund. Already he is facing a legal prosecution over the matter.

It is not likely that an Asian would be appointed to replace him in office as the position is exclusively meant for a European to occupy.  The official from china can only be appointed the deputy managing director of the fund and not the managing director. Although since the post would be contested by interested European countries it is likely that china and indeed the other Asian countries would play the power broker role in deciding whoever emerges as the next head of the international monetary fund.

It would be expected that a new chief executive would be appointed for the fund in no distant time as the resignation of the former chief has created a vacuum in the administration of the fund. Already the IMF has been asked to look in the direction of Europe for the new chief.

IMF chief Strauss-Kahn in Court for Illicit Sex

This is a troubled time for the chief executive of the International Monetary Fund Dominique Strauss Kahn. He is to undergo forensic and scientific tests to disprove that he does not have an illicit love affair with a hotel maid. He is facing court action over the matter and he is prepared to go to any extent to prove his innocent. The court was temporary suspended to enable him go for the test which he conceded.

The IMF chief was arrested last weekend and had remained in jail over an allegation that he assaulted a 32 year worker at Sofitel hotel that is located in Manhattan. The victim who made a report to the police quickly identified kahn as the man that assaulted her. The hearing now commences on Monday. His lawyer Benjamin Brafman has said that his client is innocent of the crime and said that the IMF chief will defend himself.

The other lawyer for the Imf chief William Taylor also said that Kahn willingly consented to the scientific test as requested by the government. It would be recalled that the IMF boss was pulled from the Air France on his way to Germany to discuss with Angela Merkel and the European ministers on the debt problems.

Pakistan to cut NATO’s Afghan supply line following Bin Laden’s death

The death of Osama Bin Laden in the hands of American Navy Seals is forestalling the NATO efforts in Afghanistan. The security of the NATO supply line to Afghanistan may be cut by Pakistan if the threat of Pakistan is anything to go by. The lawmakers in Pakistan vetoed all the ties with the United States of America.

The lawmakers unanimously voted against the relations with the United States of America and condemned the US May 2nd attack that led to the killing of Osama Bin Laden. The lawmakers wanted the country to review its ties with US warning against such unilateral attack on the country by America in future.

The lawmakers also urged the government of the country to cut the NATO supply line to Afghanistan. The US is responding by sending a US law maker Senator Kerry to Pakistan to do what he knows how best to do.

The government in Pakistan is very fragile and it is hoping that the military will help it to stabilize in office till the term in office expires. The relation between US and Pakistan nose dived after the death of Osama Bin Laden in the hands of Americans who invaded the country without the knowledge of Pakistani security forces.

Egyptian demonstrators support Palestine

The military and Egyptian protesters clashed on Monday outside the Israeli embassy in Cairo. The protest was organized in support of the Palestinian struggle against Israel.

About 40 of the demonstrators were injured and many arrests made when the Egyptian military responded to the protests with rubber bullets as well as tear gas. The protesters had tried to gain access to the Israeli embassy. The protest was planned to be peaceful but clashes soon start when some of the protesters changed mind and tried to gain entrance forcefully to the embassy.

It was a bloody Sunday when some Palestinian refugees tried to forcefully gain entrance into Israel from their base in Lebanon and Syria. The security forces of Lebanon and Israel responded with gun fire several of the refugees were killed although few of them still managed to gain access to Israel through the fences. Also the forces fired at Palestinians who were protesting. The protesters tried to force their way into the border with Gaza Strip which was heavily fortified with armed soldiers. Also Palestinians in west bank took to street, holding flags and waving the old key which is a sign that they would one day reclaim their territory which Israel sized in 1948. The Palestine leader Mr. Abbass has also said that the blood of the Palestinians would never be in vain.

Mississippi Threats: Pressure Eases on Levees

American residents along the Mississippi River are beginning to show sign of relief as the pressure which has been on the Mississippi River has reduced. This is as a result of the opening of the Morganza Spillway. This has reduced the pressure on the levees. This made the Mississippi River to crest last Tuesday.

Releasing water from the Mississippi river is continuing making it possible for the river not to swell beyond 45 feet as against 47.5 which was predicted at the commencement of the problem some weeks back. This was confirmed by an official of the National Weather Service Ron Trumbla. He said the reduction in the build up of the river was as a result of the spillway which was opened. He said if not for the wise decision that was taken to open the spillway the water level would have reached the level that was predicted earlier.

However the spillage of the water has washed away farm lands as the water passes into the river where it was channeled but at least it has saved the largest city in the state of Louisiana. Evacuations have been going on the towns around the cities that are located within that basin.
